It had been months but the pain and memories still stung like cold arctic ice flowing through his veins. The place wasn’t the same with Lexie Grey. It was darker and colder. His past. Mark struggled every day to fit into somewhere. To find some place he belonged. Even his home, didn’t feel like home. Knowing he needed a change, something to take his mind out of his fallen world and into a new world. Someone had joked about moving some place like Addison did. But Mark took it to heart, and before he knew it he was packing his bags and headed on the first flight to L.A. Saying goodbye to every soul in the hospital, learning that each goodbye could be his last.
Entering her floor, greeting the woman at the desk with a small smile. Almost sure he had hit on her last time he was here, but nothing urged him to do the same thing. He was different now, still charming, but part of his charisma was taken away the day Lexie took her last breath. Fighting the urge to fall back into old habits, or something worst. Finding the redhead’s office he sneaked his way in, sinking into the couch as he waited. Waited like a lost sick dog.
Of all the times Addison wished Mark would just keep his mouth shut, this was definitely the one she wanted more than anything. Instead, he of course rubbed his commitment in her face. Again. Insisted he would be a part of her daughter’s life, whether or not she liked it. Whether or not she wanted it. The point she would have argued, had she the energy, was that he wasn’t ready like he insisted he was. This was all a game to him, and he was a C H I L D himself. How could he possibly be a father, when he couldn’t even be a committed lover? If Addison had a choice between having a terrible, cheating influence in her child’s life, and having no father figure, she chose the latter. Every single time. Ella wasn’t going to be the Kitten to Mark’s Captain. Not if she could stop it.
Yet she held her tongue, relenting to let him inside when he insisted. Her eyes were burning, begging to be closed, but she kept them focused on his figure. There was a pause where he sized her up, and she felt her body momentarily seize under his gaze. The redhead wasn’t sure if it was the fact that he’d seen her naked–somewhat against her will–or the fact that he childishly wanted something he couldn’t fully understand that made her feel that way. When he spoke his mind, she couldn’t help a terse, bitter laugh. She hadn’t brushed her hair, let alone showered. Of course she looked like shit. “Thanks,” she muttered, shaking her head in disbelief as he set his things down.
Then he turned toward her, and she was once again frozen on the spot. Damnit, Addison, why do you let him do this to you? “Mark…” her voice trailed off as his hand traced the side of her face, sending shivers up her spine and along her scalp. Her own stormy gaze was trapped in his, focus dancing from one of his concerned eyes to the other as if she was trying to make him understand; at the same time trying to understand him. Finally, she stepped back and away from him, looking down at the floor. Feeling a hot flash of memory rush through her–Mark’s lips against hers, gasping in the smell of her skin. Derek taking hold of her wrists and throwing her out the door. Mark’s arms cradling her close to his chest as she sobbed, a mess on the pristine hardwood floor. “I—-… Thanks, for coming.”
“Addison…”Blue eyes found their way seeing into her gaze, a moment of bliss.
A MOMENT where everything seemed normal again. But they weren’t normal.
Having a b a b y with your best-friend’s wife was far from normal, and nothing
would ever be settled again. They were in a constant feeling of unsettling,
every single ounce of trust in all of them, misplaced. Misplaced in Mark. Out of
everyone, the only person that seemed to be the one blamed, was Mark. What
about Derek? He drove Addison into his arms. Or what about Addison? —She
didn’t have it E A S Y, and Mark knew she was paying for the cost. But he just
wished she would CUT him even the slightest bit of slack, and show him the
reason why he held such adoration for her. The reason why his mind loved her
but other parts of his body and immaturity made him do reckless things, made
him throw it all away for one night stands that weren’t even all that amazing…
but it was hard to compare. Because sex with Addison…it’s impossible to put
into words.
When she pulled back, the man’s lips only pursed further holding BACK a
small chuckle. Playing the situation like a game. A game of cat and mouse.
Unaware of the r e a l stakes. “Do you remember the night Derek left? The
night you stayed in myarms for hours? The night where you didn’t have
this fueling hatred. Where’s that Addison? Because I’d really like to see her
sometime. Not this one who looks at me like I’m to blame, and that refuses
to believe that I might actually be a decent father. “ Those were the LAST
words that left Mark’s lips. She was sick and he could still very s t r a i n e d
from the strenuous work, not the particular feeling that was great for a deep
meaningful conversation about how the next few years of their life was going
to go and about the mistakes that caused this turn of events.
“Anytime.” Mark added before he set the box and bag of things collected for the baby, down. Eyes scanning around. “Where is
she?” If he searched it probably wouldn’t take him more than a
few seconds to find her, but this was Addison’s home now and her home alone. He didn’t want to o v e r s t e p his boundaries anymore than he already had. Excitement began to fill the man’s stomach. He had seen her, been able to hear her, but not once
had he held her. They said a man didn’t feel like he was a father
until the moment he held his child for the first time. But he already
felt like one so he couldn’t even begin to fathom the feeling that
would burst through his veins when Ella reached his arms for the first time.
“Yes…” she replied with a sigh, “As in his sister.” Maybe she should have swallowed her pride and used her father’s last name, instead. Karev was unusual enough, and during her whole time at the hospital, all anybody said to her had to do with who her brother was. She was proud of him, happy even, but she wasn’t on best terms with him. So she wasn’t necessarily ecstatic to be compared or related to him at the moment. “Though there’s really no need for a reminder.” She tried using the nicest tone she had, but she wasn’t sure if she’d pulled it off.
“Just making a connection,” He guessed the nickname Little Karev
wouldn’t fly with her, although she was a Karev so it was only a matter
of time before she got a nickname that contained spawn in it. Mark
voted for hotty-spawn. But he didn’t dare voice his opinion on that,
instead his eyes trailed back down to the file. “Well Dr. Karev,
have you got an interest in plastics or are you just here because you’ve been assigned here?”
It felt so right to be kissing him again. To be back with someone who felt as strongly for her as she did for him. With a gentle hum, she pulled away, resting her forehead against Mark’s. “I’ve missed you.”
Fingers brushed against her jaw and tangled in her hair, eyes opening
to match the adoration in her voice. Leaning in he pressed another
quick kiss to her lips. “I’ve missed you too,”
Mark, Derek, and Addison all live in New York. Derek is married to Addison in what people think is a ‘happy’ relationship but really Mark is screwing his best friends wife behind his back.

My name is Alex, I'm 18, and this is a side-blog to Derek-Shephxrd. I began playing Mark a while ago but finally deciding to make this account for him. I'm always open for plotting so feel free to jump into my ask or tag me in a starter if I follow you on my Derek. I have skype for anyone that wants to talk or plot. Oh yeah and gave me all the Maddison and Slexie. I'm also probably the biggest crackshipper.
