The blonde had been sitting at his bed side throughout
the day, her blue eyes looking around for any movement or
change in his vitals but so far, there was nothing. It was
like everything was falling apart, but the blonde couldn’t
even imagine how Callie was feeling, the dark-haired female
had been in and out of the room all day, the thought of shutting
Mark’s life support off was something that she couldn’t handle.
They were all praying for a miracle, any miracle to happen-
and that was when Arizona heard the beeping of his vitals;
they were coming back to normal. “Mark, Mark can you hear me?”
She said, her body rising from the chair.
First, it was the beeping of his vitals. Second, it was the small twitch of his fingers. And third, it was his eyes slowly fluttering open to meet the blonde’s gaze. It took a moment for everything to kick in and for his mind to begin to process everything. He had woken up, he had been given life when he didn’t expect it. Fingers curled against the hospital bedding, breathing a little hitched, only the slightest bit of pain running down his spine. He was sure he had the SURGE. He was sure he was a deadman.

Blue ocean eyes had been locked on the TV for the past hour, not noticing
the young girls eyes had now drifted close. Finally Mark snapped out of the
hold of reality television, a soft smile peaking at the corner of his lips as his
head turned to meet his daughters head on his shoulder. Fingers curled
around her hip and he let her arm fall around his shoulder, carrying her to
her bedroom. Chuckling at the memory of when he first put the room together.
The moment Callie told him, he had begun painting and building almost every inch of the room. After a moment of reminiscence he set her down on the bed and pulled a blanket around her. He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead.
“You know I would if Bailey wasn’t going to kill me for that.” Derek replied, still chuckling. “Why don’t you settle for some – jello? That’s just as good as any alcoholic beverage.” Of course it wasn’t, but he wasn’t just going to steal his best friend and ruin the chance of Mark just maybe getting better.
“Since when has the amazing top neurosurgeon Derek Shepherd taken orders from Bailey?” A brow raised up, before furrowing. “Only if their Jello shots. ” A chuckle followed the words, but soon halted when it made a sharp pain spike through Mark’s chest.
Mark felt his little girl’s arms snake around his hips, sucking in a breath trying to ignore the P A I N jolting through his veins at the recent news. Surprisingly when his arms fell around hers, the pain subsided. Just for a moment, he f o r g o t, he forgot that his best-friend Callie and her wife had just flatlined due to a fatal car crash. Because he wasn’t in this alone, his daughter was going through it to. But she hadn’t just lost a friend she had lost her parents, and Mark couldn’t even begin to imagine what she was feeling. He held back the tears and HEART ache and squeezed his daughter’s hand. Running his thumb along her palm before his glossy blue eyes met hers.
“I know.” Elena smiled and hugged her brother. “I figured I’d come to Seattle and surprise you. It’s been a few months since we’ve seen each other and I had some vacation time. So, what’s new big brother?“
“Far too long, if you ask me. Next time let me know so I can take some time off work.I met a girl. I think you’d really like her.” Just the thought of her made his lips purse. “She’s actually a resident here. Lexie Grey.”
“Didn’t want to do this? Addison you played just a big as part
in wrecking your marriage as I did. I’m not to blame here. You stayed with me after Derek left. Clearly you did want to do this. "
Teddy’s expression faded from
one of confusion to one of deepest regret —
what had she done to deserve such hurtful words? She knew it had to be some
fault of her own; no resentment could run so forcefully misguided. No, if there
was hatred in Mark’s eyes, she would have to find the truth within them.
“Mark, what is it? I don’t
understand,” Teddy asked quietly, trying in vain to conceal her distress. “Is
it something I did? Something I said?” She wished in all sincerity to ask him
more, but she bit back the words — it wasn’t her place to plead when the
fault was wholly hers. She would never hurt Mark with willingness; she cared
for him, mind and heart and soul.
But that wasn’t to say she could
love him so soon. Two years was barely enough to salve her entire being, raw
from the depth of her grief. With the night as her only witness, she could
finally give herself over to the fear that she might never be capable of love
again. Could she harbor such wonders, and still call herself human? Mark would
never know how scared she was under this brittle facade of bravery; she would
never let him.
“Please… don’t leave. I’m sorry; I’m
sorry for whatever I did. I didn’t mean to hurt you, Mark — I would
never.” Teddy prayed that her words didn’t seem as pitiful as they sounded, but
she held out little hope. In spite of all the times she’d tried to convince
herself otherwise, she needed him — needed him to lead her when her feet would fail, and to hold her when she lost herself. She couldn’t imagine
life without Mark any more than she wanted to imagine being alone.
Still barely able to look at her, now feeling g u i l t y for putting this weight onto her when she didn’t even know what she did. He knew he was being cruel and unfair, but he couldn’t help it. It took everything for Mark to say those three SIMPLE words and the feeling he got when she said them back was unimaginable, but the feeling had dissipated when she ended the sentence with Henry. Taking a deep breath, eyes still turned away in almost humiliation.
“I told you I LOVED you. You were asleep so I’m not really sure it counted. But I said it. And then moments later you said I love you… but you said I love you Henry. I-you were asleep. It shouldn’t matter. But it does, because I’m in love with you and it took me a while to get there, it took me a while to let myself love you, but I’m here. And really it’s okay that you’re not there yet, of course you still love him, I still love her. But I’m just afraid you’re not going to l e t yourself love someone else. That you might never get there, and if that’s true, then you’ll never love me the way I love you. I don’t want that because we’ll both end up miserable or I’ll end up heartbroken, I was a DIRTY MISTRESS, I never got the woman, I know what it’s like to be on the loosing side. So if I have to be on the loosing side one more time, that’s fine, I just need to know now.”
The man couldn’t help but ramble, once he began he couldn’t stop. The thoughts were entering his mind and leaving through his lips. B o i l i n g question and feelings that Mark had never truly let out before. He had one last fight for love in him, if she wasn’t the one he was giving up. Unable to take the P A I N of heartbreak anymore, convincing himself that the life Derek had would never be the life Mark could have.
Throughout his whole life, Mark was filled with a void, a missing piece &&
for the longest time he couldn’t figure out what it was. Once he met Lexie
he was sure that it was his manwhore ways and never settling down that
was the complete VOID but those things only made him forget about the
empty space. It was the moment that Mark first held Sofia, that he knew,
knew that she was what he needed. He needed a family. Not a traditional
one, those were boring, he didn’t have one, and he turned out just fine with
the Shepherds. And having a baby with your BISEXUAL best friend and her
lesbian lover was the least traditional way of going about it. Although it might
have been destructive at times, they all made it work, and he had a f a m i l y. That was all he ever NEEDED, a family and with Sofia he got one. The man never once passed up an opportunity to spend the weekend with his daughter, always clearing the days of any surgery so he could solely focus on her.
With bright eyes, he looked down at his daughter. “So what’d you want to do this weekend, kid?”
Mark, Derek, and Addison all live in New York. Derek is married to Addison in what people think is a ‘happy’ relationship but really Mark is screwing his best friends wife behind his back.

Oh yeah and gave me all the Maddison and Slexie. I'm also probably the biggest crackshipper.
